This February, OPC Real Estate officially launched the construction of the new shopping centre, OC Point Skalica II.
This project naturally builds on the success of the existing first phase, OC Point Skalica I., while also confirming the growing appeal of Skalica and its wider surroundings.
An important factor in our decision was the dynamic growth of residential development in the area, which is increasing the centre’s future visitor potential.
OC Point will be built on Karvašova Street, and if everything goes according to plan, we expect to welcome the first visitors as early as November this year.
International brands alongside space for local businesses
Future visitors can look forward to well-known brands such as JYSK, Action and Woolworth.
Most of the retail units have already been leased, but we still offer smaller spaces and remain open to working with local entrepreneurs who want to become part of this project.
The opening of the centre will also create new job opportunities — approximately 20 jobs per shift — contributing to the economic development of the region.
Greenery and sustainability as part of the project
In designing OC Point Skalica II., we are placing strong emphasis on sustainability and the creation of a high-quality public environment.
The project will include:
- 28 newly planted trees across three species
- a rain garden and ornamental grasses
- stormwater infiltration features in the parking area
- a green roof to help cool the surrounding environment
Our ambition is also to achieve BREEAM environmental certification, confirming a high standard of environmentally responsible and energy-efficient design.
Investing in the surrounding area as well
The construction of the shopping centre will bring not only new retail units, but also improvements to the surrounding infrastructure.
The project includes:
- new sidewalks
- expanded technical infrastructure
- additional street furniture
At the same time, we have paid the statutory development fee to the city, which will contribute to the municipal budget and support further projects aimed at improving public space.
We see OC Point Skalica II as an important step in the region’s development, and we are pleased that it will soon bring a modern shopping and community destination to both residents and visitors of the city.
